Why is it that a premium value is placed on items that are original creations? Why first-time experiences are never forgotten? Our musical culture shares this same sentiment. In this digital world where imitation or replication is inexpensive, effortless, and instantaneous, it is a delight to rediscover such original favorites and re-live memories through music.

Thus, the creation of True Tones. True Tones are a compilation of ringtones as they were first heard by the public. Original voices. Original instruments. All ages. Across cultures.

Who does not enjoy hearing songs from Scooby-doo, The Simpsons, and of course the all-time favorite, Sesame Street? Definitely not just the kids, but also even those kids-at-heart like moms and dads. Teens meanwhile will of course prefer tunes from Beverly Hills, Buffy, Dawson's Creek and other popular TV series. For more mature audiences, True Tones offers themes from James Bond, Mission Impossible, Mac Gyver, X-Files and more.

If you're not much into movies or TV series, True Tones has tunes of various artists and genre for you, particularly pop, hiphop, and dance or techno music. True Tones features not only current hits but music of the past and top hits of tomorrow as well. Sing, rap and dance to these catchy beats. Yearning for something uncommon and distinct? Go Orientals, Arabic, or Tribal. Discover and appreciate their richness, diversity and exuberance. Listen to rarely heard musical instruments play energetic beats or intense melodies. Hear hums, chants and voices pouring out soulful lines.

In line with this diverse selection of Eastern culture, True Tones also features music from Bollywood, the popular Mumbai-based film industry in India. Listen to Lata Mangeshkar, Sonu Nigam, Kishore Kumar, and other known singer-actors and playback singers. True Tones' long list of Bollywood tunes reflect how thriving this culture is.

Going patriotic? Search for your national anthem. This list is great not only as a ringtone but also for collection purposes. Speaking of collection, True Tones also compiles Classicals - religious and otherwise; English and European.

Whatever your preferences or style, True Tones has it covered.

The Stag Line, a male high school dance etiquette, was certainly indigenous to Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia Canada.

Remember those Cape Breton school dances in the 1960s?

The community hall or gymnasium would be dimly lighted by a few flood lights. Whether the music was delivered by a jukebox, a DJ or live band, the use of a color organ and strobe light was prevalent. Waiting in anticipation of being asked to dance, the teenage ladies were seated along the walls of the dance floor while some of the young girls started things off by dancing with each other.

In Cape Breton this familiar 1960s dance scene now took a radical depart from the norm. The young gents, dressed in typical macho denim jeans 'n jacket, entered the dance hall 'struttin' their stuff'. Then, like "the March of the Penguins", these young males, 2 or 3 abreast, began a deliberate saunter (always in counter clockwise direction) around the dance floor.

This procession of "eligible male dance partners" (hence the name '''stag line''') expanded with more guys joining their buddies in the "dance floor walk about". In short order, this stag line grew to a solid moving procession (2 to 4 wide) of guys. For the entire evening, this organized stag line circled the dance floor, positioned between the dancing masses and the eligible ladies sitting along the edge of the gymnasium.

What was the purpose of this Cape Breton dance-matching ritual?

Being in the stag line, provided each male ample opportunity (multiple loops of the dance floor) to scope out the females, both dancing and sitting. He would spot his next potential dance partner. With both the encouragement and jabs from his immediate stag line buddies, once he worked up the nerve, (usually after 4-10 passes) the male would simply step out of the stag line in front of the chosen sitting lady and request a dance.

Now here is the shear brilliance of the stag line. It really was a simple male support system for those almost always shy and awkward teenage guys working up the courage to ask a girl to dance. If the female response was affirmative, the gentlemen simply escorted her to the dance floor then danced to as many tunes as was enjoyable for both. When the dancing was ended by either party, the guy escorted her back to her seat and then (this is perfect) rejoined his comrades in the stag line parade.

Now, should a female's response to a dance request be 'negatory' or even a little hesitant, the "stag line extracted" male need simply to step back into the line right next to the comfort and support ( or jabs) of his buddies. And likely only a few people even noticed the rejection let alone the valiant attempt. Everyone kept face. And the recovering male, once re-composed, would start the hunt for the next dance partner.

How did the stag line practice get started?

One plausible theory about the origin of the stag line is that at a dance enters the local 'fonzie, tough guy with his entourage of tough guys. Being the top catch for any lady, these tough guys started to strut in front of the ladies seated around the dance floor. Low and behold, the 'regular', 'not so tough', 'but wanting to be part of the tough guy club' guys started following behind these tough guys. And so the 'stag line' was born. The stage line phenomenon appears to have only survived the 1960's teenage generation. Not sure if any photographs have captured this social dance practice.

So the stag line really brought a kind social order to Cape Breton teenage dances. No one got hurt and males learned to deal with rejection and ridicule in a more supportive (sometimes not) team environment.

Maybe stag lines should re-introduced for those over 50 dances. If for no other reason, seniors would get their walking exercise. Picture that.....

Your Favorite Band Sucks Men's tee Shirt in 12 colors Small thru 6XL

All that matters is your child's experience at the piano. It doesn't matter what other people think, what others expect, even what the piano teacher thinks is irrelevant.

What matters is that your child has a chance to experience playing the piano, however humbly, and enjoys what they are able to do. Even attempting the piano is a success.

Looking at children at the piano as a group, with statistical expectations that one child will live up to someone's ideal of a musician, is actually destructive to the child.

No one in their right mind expects their child to play at Carnegie Hall: what we're looking for is hobbyists and aficionados, not piano virtuosi and superstars.

Let me assure you that if your child has what it takes to play Carnegie Hall, it will be so obvious that no one in the piano business will miss their cue. The number of children that have that in the cards for them are so few, that it is not even a real number.

Take all the wildly talented children, divide by 10,000, and then pick one. That one child has a 1% chance of a successful career as a piano soloist. But all children, properly nurtured, have a 100% chance of playing simple songs at the piano, feeling great about it and adding to their general education and intellectual skills.

It's more productive to think in terms of your child as an individual. Let's get that individual child to play as well as they can, without stress, without wildly unrealistic expectations.

In fact, the point of early childhood music education is not expertise, but exposure to the intellectual and abstract concepts inherent in music that will help their minds grow.

To demonstrate the proposition that children's piano lessons increase mental powers, we need to look at the human brain itself.

The brain, divided into two sides, controls each hand with the opposite side of the brain. The left brain controls the right hand, while the right brain controls the left hand.

The two sides "speak" to each other via a huge superhighway of nerves and ganglia called the "corpus callosum." The reason the piano is so beneficial for children intellectually is that the piano, in having both hands work together in similar ways, forces the brain to use both halves of the brain simultaneously. There are very few activities on earth that excite the "corpus" like music and piano.

And so piano activity demonstrably produces better handwriting, better math skills, better abstract skills and higher self-esteem, all through having the two sides of the brain talk to each other, over and over until the nerve path is physically thickened.

That's right, there is a PHYSICAL result in your child's brain as a result of playing the piano, even attempting the piano. It is a known medical fact that the "corpus callosum" (that nerve path between the brain's two sides) of musicians is up to 90% larger than that of people who are not musicians. And starting piano at an early age begins those benefits early in life.

So if your child is not destined for Carnegie Hall, they may still be destined to enjoy, appreciate and create music. And have a thicker corpus callosum!

The saddest part of music education today is that piano lessons are, as they always have been, designed to produce candidates for Carnegie Hall, not fully rounded and nurtured individuals who try to play piano to the best of THEIR ability.

Children who, with a little care, could gain all the benefits of a piano education are made to feel like failures because they cannot live up to a curriculum developed hundreds of years ago to produce professionals.

It's time to let kids be kids and not rob them of the benefits of piano because they don't fit some misguided teacher's idea of accomplishment.

Start looking at the piano from the child's point of view.

The Future is Unwritten-DVD Documentary

Julien Temple, one of the early documentarians of the London punk scene and director of the 2000 Sex Pistols film The Filth and the Fury, turns his attention now to that other seminal British band: The Clash--or more accurately, to the band's co-founder, lyricist, rhythm guitarist and lead singer, Joe Strummer. The Future is Unwritten is more than just a biography of Strummer; it is a tribute and exploration of a musician, artist and devoted humanist. Though Temple respects and admires Strummer (his influence is exalted by close friends, peers and fans like Bono and John Cusack), he doesn't romanticize this larger-than-life personality and presents Strummer honestly and not always in flattering light, though the director's fondness for his subject is constant. Most movingly, Strummer himself provides the narration via reassembled excerpts from a variety of interviews and the BBC radio show he hosted during the nineties. In the wrong hands, this could be contrived, but in this masterful documentary it serves as a testament to not just Joe Strummer the myth, but Joe Strummer the man, telling us his story in vivid detail. The Future is Unwritten is a moving and personal portrait of a musician who helped shaped not just punk, but modern music as a whole. --Kira Canny
Customer Review: Amazing movie about a rock legend
There have been several movies made about Joe Strummer but Julien Temple's is unique in its personal touch. Temple was a friend of Strummer's for many years and so had insight into the man behind the music that many people did not have. The movie consists of Joe's life story as told by many friends, acquaintances, fellow artists and others who knew him or were influenced by him over the years. Amazing music, very well put-together, and just a great story about a man who was a huge influence on rock & roll and politics during his time on this earth. Joe was taken from the world too early when he died unexpectedly in December 2002 and after watching this movie one can only wonder what more he would have accomplished. The opening scene of Joe singing "White Riot" a capella in the studio is complemented by the closing scene of Joe and Mick Jones reuniting on stage 20+ years later to perform the same song...even though they were old (and Mick a little bald!) they still ROCKED. If you like the Clash, you must see this movie!!

Hip-hop took birth as American street culture. Hip-hop culture emerged from 1970s block parties (large outdoor parties, thrown by owners of expensive stereo equipment) in New York City, specifically South Bronx. Pioneered by Black Americans, it includes rap music, break dancing, 'b-boy' fashion, and a defiant stance.

Amid predictions it would not outlive a season, hip-hop music managed to create its own race. Anyone who dismisses Hip-hop as rap music does not understand its history and the influence hip-hop has on youth culture. True fans appreciate that hip-hop is not just about music; it is a way of life, a language, and a unique perspective that uses music to address racism, oppression, and poverty issues, and transforms the music into a political movement. The aim is to motivate young adults to get active in ways reminiscent of the civil rights movement. Hip-hop narrates the stories of inner city African-Americans trying to live the American dream from the bottom up. It is about the youth culture of New York City taking over the world somedayabout dance, art, hurt, love, racial discrimination, broken homes, overcoming adversity, and fulfillment.

Hip-hop includes four key forms of expression: mixing (combining sounds using turntables or other sources), b-boying (dancing), graffiti art, and emceeing (a person who can control the crowd with his lyrics). This culture manifested itself throughout New York City around the mid-1970s. There is a message passed down from the godfathers of hip-hop: to earn respect, you must be skilled on the mic, possess the ability to rock a crowd with sheer lyricism, and explain why you were better than the man next door.

What are the benefits of being able to flirt in Spanish?

Well, imagine this.

You have been in the club for hours and, so far, no one has caught your eye. You are just about to give up and go home when, suddenly, a hot Latina or Latino walks through the door.

What do you do?

While eye contact and body language may get the job done let's add a twist: Some flirty Spanish phrases.

Breaking the Ice

Flirting is all about breaking the ice. The tone of the conversation starts with the first words you say. Do something to make a unique first impression.

Starting a conversation with a flirty Spanish phrase is a unique way to break the ice. If the person you are talking to speaks Spanish, you will immediately separate yourself from all the others.

Even if the person you want to flirt with doesn't know Spanish, you will still have their attention. How often do people come up to them speaking a foreign language? They will probably ask what the phrase means, which will allow you to start a conversation either way.

Some Flirty Spanish Phrases

So, now that you know that adding some Spanish phrases to your list of flirting techniques is worthwhile, you just need to know what to say.

Here are a few flirty phrases that will work wonders.

I noticed you and wanted to find out what you were like. Te not y quera averiguar cmo eres. teh noh-tEH ee keh-rEE-ah ah-vehr-ee-gwahr kOH-moh eh-rehrs.

You are very pretty. Eres muy linda. eh-rehs mwee leen-dah.

You are very handsome. Eres muy guapo. eh-rehs mwee gwah-poh.

You have the prettiest eyes in the world. Tienes los ojos ms bonitos del mundo. tee-eh-nehs lohs oh-hohs mAHs boh-nee-tohs dehl moon-doh.

You have a lovely smile. Tienes una sonrisa hermosa. tee-eh-nehs oo-nah sohn-ree-sah ehr-moh-sah.

Practice, Practice, Practice

Once you have learned a few flirty Spanish phrases, you want to master them. Practice them until they start to become warm and natural.

First, find out the proper way to say the words, either by asking someone who knows the language to teach you, or by using a dictionary that spells out each word phonetically.

Then, practice each phrase as often as you can, until they roll off of your tongue almost as easily as saying the same things in English would.

Having the ability to flirt a little in Spanish provides you with unique opportunities when meeting people you are attracted to.
